Solar battery storage can move daytime generation into the evening, reduce exports and support selected circuits during a power cut. Capacity should follow measured use, seasonal occupation and the job the battery needs to do.

Seasonal homes behave differently

A large battery may sit underused for much of the year in a holiday home. In a permanently occupied villa with evening cooling, cooking and pool equipment, the same capacity can cycle regularly. The design needs occupancy patterns, not just annual consumption.

Remote monitoring is especially useful when a property is empty. The battery location also needs sensible ventilation, temperature control and access for maintenance.

Storage and backup are separate decisions

Owning a battery does not by itself guarantee electricity during a power cut. Backup requires compatible equipment, safe isolation from the grid and a clear decision about which circuits remain live.

A selected installer or supplier may assess Tesla Powerwall or SolaX storage against usable capacity, output, operating mode and the backup hardware the property requires. Availability is not guaranteed.

Is a solar battery worth it in Mallorca, Ibiza or Menorca?+

It can be where evening use is high, export rates are low or resilience matters. Consumption timing and the proposed tariff need to be modelled before deciding.

How large should a home battery be?+

Capacity should follow surplus solar generation, evening demand and any backup requirement. Bigger is not always better.

Can a battery be added to existing panels?+

Usually, although the existing inverter, electrical layout and warranty position determine whether AC- or DC-coupled storage is more sensible.
