Are solar panels worth it in the Balearics?
For most homes, yes. The islands get around 1,450 to 1,600 kWh of solar output per installed kW each year, and electricity is expensive. The best results come where the roof has unshaded space and the property uses a good share of its power in daylight: pools, air conditioning, hot water, pumps.
Sized from your consumption
We start with twelve months of bills and, where your distributor provides it, hourly consumption data. That shows how much you use in daylight, how it changes between summer and winter, and how much a battery could realistically shift. We size the array to cover dependable daytime demand rather than to fill the roof, and we allow for loads you plan to add, such as a pool heat pump or an electric car.
Built for island conditions
Salt air, wind and strong summer heat are hard on equipment. We specify corrosion-resistant mounting and fixings near the coast, keep inverters and batteries out of direct sun, and plan for the Tramuntana wind on exposed sites in Menorca and northern Mallorca.
What the installation includes
- Survey of roof, shade through the year, fixing points, access, cable routes and the electrical supply
- Panel layout on pitched, flat, terrace or pergola roofs, kept as discreet as the setting needs
- Inverter or Enphase microinverters, mounting, protection and monitoring
- The comunicación previa to the council where it applies, or the licence route if it does not
- Electrical certificate, registration and the paperwork for surplus compensation
- Manufacturer warranties registered in your name

Making the most of the solar
Pool filtration, hot water, laundry and EV charging can run in the middle of the day. We set timers and smart controls, and the monitoring app shows what the system produces and what the property uses. If there is regular surplus, a battery carries it into the evening.
Questions owners ask
How many panels does a Balearic villa need?
It depends on use, not size. Many occupied villas need 10 to 20 panels; large villas with pools and many cooling zones can need more.
Do I need permission for solar panels?
On urban land, rooftop solar usually needs only a comunicación previa to the council under Ley 12/2017. Protected buildings, rural land and communities need more. We check your property. More on planning.
Do panels cope with salt air?
Yes, with the right mounting, fixings and equipment positions. We specify for coastal exposure.
Can I add a battery later?
Usually. If you might want one, we fit a battery-ready or hybrid inverter from the start.
How long does installation take?
Most homes take one to three days on site once the design is agreed and the council notice is in.
