What is the cheapest way to heat a pool here?
An inverter pool heat pump running at midday on solar electricity, with a cover at night. The heat pump delivers several times more heat than the electricity it uses, and the cover stops most of that heat escaping.
Sizing the heat pump
We size it from the pool's surface and volume, wind exposure, cover, the temperature you want and the months you want to swim. Warming a pool in April is a very different job from holding temperature in September.
Running it on solar
Pool filtration and heating are ideal solar loads because they can run in the middle of the day. We include the pool in the solar design so the array covers it without being oversized for the rest of the year.
