Solar grants and tax relief: check the date first

Balearic support changes by programme, applicant and municipality. A page that promises a grant long after a call closes is worse than no advice at all. Verify the live call before signing a contract on the strength of an incentive.

The application window for FOTOPAR 2026 ran from 26 January to 30 April 2026 and is closed. The later €8 million expansion increased funding for applications already made. It did not reopen the application period. Future calls should be checked on the official Balearic Government portal.

Municipal IBI and ICIO relief varies and may require an application within a strict window. IRPF deductions depend on tax status and energy-performance evidence. Non-resident owners should not assume a Spanish resident’s tax relief applies to them.

Treat aid as conditional

Ask who prepares the application, whether work may start before submission and what happens if funds are exhausted. Keep technical certificates, invoices and proof of payment.

Questions owners ask

Before the survey.

Can I still apply for FOTOPAR 2026?+

No. The official application window closed on 30 April 2026. Check the Balearic Government portal for any later programme.

Can I get an IBI discount for solar panels?+

Some municipalities offer one, with local rates and conditions. Apply directly under the current municipal rules.

Do non-residents qualify for solar tax relief?+

It depends on the specific measure and the owner’s tax position. Obtain tax advice rather than assuming eligibility.
