Solar for a house that is empty part of the year

Holiday homes can suit solar well, especially with summer cooling and pool demand. They can also be badly overspecified when an annual bill hides long periods of near-zero use.

Monthly bills and interval data show whether the system will feed the house or mostly export. Pool filtration, hot water, security, refrigeration and humidity control may create a steady daytime base load even when nobody is staying.

Remote monitoring should alert the owner or manager to outages and faults. It is not a substitute for local access when equipment needs resetting or inspecting.

A battery needs a job

Evening comfort, low export value and backup can justify storage. Simply filling a large battery each sunny day is not a benefit if the property does not use that energy overnight.
